Whether you want to change the background picture on your MacBook to match your mood or to give it a fresh look, this guide will walk you through the simple steps to change the picture on your MacBook.

Step 1: Open the Photos App

To change the picture on your MacBook, you first need to open the Photos app. You can do this by clicking on the Photos icon on your dock or by searching for it in Spotlight (Command + Spacebar) and typing “Photos.”

Step 2: Select the Desired Picture

Once the Photos app is open, navigate to the picture you want to set as your background. You can browse through your albums, folders, or use the search function to find the specific image.

Step 3: Open the Picture in Full-Screen

Click on the picture you want to use, and then click on the “Full Screen” button (two arrows pointing in opposite directions) in the top-right corner of the window. This will open the picture in full-screen mode.

Step 4: Save the Picture to Your Desktop

To set the picture as your background, you need to save it to your desktop. Click on the “File” menu in the top-left corner of the screen, then select “Export” and choose “Export to Desktop.” You can rename the file if you like, and then click “Export.”

Step 5: Set the Picture as Your Background

Now that you have saved the picture to your desktop, you can set it as your background. Click on the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of the screen, then select “System Preferences.” In the System Preferences window, click on “Desktop & Screen Saver.”

In the Desktop & Screen Saver window, click on the “Desktop” tab. You will see a list of folders where your desktop pictures are stored. Click on the “+” button to add a new folder, and then navigate to your desktop and select the folder containing the picture you saved earlier. Click “Open,” and the picture will be added to the list of desktop pictures.

Step 6: Apply the New Background

Finally, click on the picture you want to use as your background and then click “Set Desktop.” The new picture will be applied to your MacBook’s desktop.
