How to Share Access to Ring Camera

In today’s interconnected world, home security systems have become an essential part of our lives. Among the various options available, Ring cameras have gained immense popularity due to their advanced features and user-friendly interface. However, sharing access to your Ring camera with friends, family, or even professional service providers can be a daunting task if you are not aware of the process. In this article, we will guide you through the steps on how to share access to your Ring camera, ensuring that you can securely grant access to the people you trust.

Step 1: Log in to your Ring account

The first step to sharing access to your Ring camera is to log in to your Ring account. You can do this by visiting the Ring website or downloading the Ring app on your smartphone. Enter your username and password to access your account.

Step 2: Navigate to the camera settings

Once you have logged in, locate the camera you want to share access to. Click on the camera’s name or icon to view its settings. This will take you to the camera’s dashboard, where you can manage various aspects of the camera, including sharing access.

Step 3: Select ‘Share this camera’

On the camera’s dashboard, you will find an option called ‘Share this camera.’ Click on it to proceed. This will open a new window where you can invite users to access your camera.

Step 4: Enter the email address of the person you want to share with

In the invitation window, enter the email address of the person you want to share access with. You can also add a custom message to the invitation, which will be displayed to the person when they receive the invitation.

Step 5: Choose the level of access

Ring allows you to choose the level of access you want to grant to the person you are sharing with. You can select from three options:

– View-only: The person will be able to view live video and recorded footage but will not have the ability to control the camera.
– View and control: The person will have full access to the camera, including the ability to view live video, recorded footage, and control the camera’s settings.
– View and take action: The person will have the same access as ‘View and control’ but will also be able to arm and disarm the camera’s security features.

Select the appropriate level of access based on your requirements and preferences.

Step 6: Send the invitation

After choosing the level of access, click on the ‘Send invitation’ button. Ring will send an email to the person you invited, containing a link to accept the invitation. The person will need to create a Ring account or log in to their existing account to accept the invitation.

Step 7: Monitor and manage shared access

Once the person has accepted your invitation, you can monitor and manage their access to your Ring camera. You can revoke their access at any time by going back to the camera settings and selecting ‘Manage shared access.’ This will remove the person’s access to your camera, ensuring that you maintain control over your home security system.

By following these simple steps, you can easily share access to your Ring camera with trusted individuals, allowing them to keep an eye on your home when you are away or provide assistance when needed. Remember to always review and manage shared access to ensure the security and privacy of your home.
